Mormon Historic Sites Foundation in conjunction with Kaleidoscope Pictures and the LDS Motion Picture Studio have collaborated in creating this documentary about the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Iceland. The documentary is based on the book Fire on Ice: The Story of Latter-day Saints at Home and Abroad by BYU Professor Fred E. Woods.

The film tells how the message of Mormonism came to Iceland, who some of the early missionaries were, their difficulties in preaching the gospel, and their experiences in coming to an unfamiliar land that was very different than their native homeland.

The film also tells the story of those modern pioneers who built upon the legacy of those early pioneers and returned to Iceland as missionaries and others who continue to bring the gospel to the land of fire and ice.
